Jelly Roll Picture Frames.... Free Pattern

 


Jelly Roll Picture Frame Quilt


Fabrics Required

1Jelly roll or 2.5 strips from your stash 

1 pack colourful charm squares or cut 36 5inch squares

1.5 yard background fabric, I used white 

Top and bottom jelly roll pieced border I used 6 leftover and pieced together 

Backing fabric 3.5yards

1/4 yard blue and white flora for binding 

For the 4 patch an the final border i used left over scraps that was contrasting  4 patch measures 4.5 finish size

Cutting Instructions

Layout your fabrics as shown and choose colour contrasting colours for charms and Jelly rolls


Stack and jelly rolls of contracting colours to charm squares, 9 inch's in length cut 72.
Sub cut 5 inch's in length the  jelly rolls,  cut 72.

Select your jelly rolls 5inch cut and 9nch cut plus charm squares as shown below.


Layout and stitch together as show in the pictures below 

stitch on short rolls first             then stitch on the long strips

Then trim and press open all blocks as shown in the video, finish block size is 9x9 make 36 in altogether.



Note.. make sure that if you are using charm squares with an image that it is positioned  out upright.
Lay out the bocks in the orientation of your choice  ( these blocks also look very good on point).

Lay our 6 rows and stitch together to make a row, sew on the white inner border making sure to line up the seams on the picture frames before sewing on the next row of picture frames, see video for further info if unsure.
Once all inner borders are added you will need to add a further top and end 2.5 white borders

Measure the length of quilt top to add another side 2.5 white borders. .

Stitch together the remaining jelly rolls left over from your pack to make a strip pieced border to add to the top and bottom ONLY.  

For your final border you will need 3.5 inch's in width, I used white, I also added a patch block that measures the same size of the 3.5 border and add them on 
Your quilt is now ready to be basted and quilted .


I quilted this quilt using my walking foot.
