My Jelly Roll Picture frame design, how I came up with the idea to design this simply beautiful quilt.

Jelly Roll Picture Frames

17 July 20201

Hey all, so this weeks quilt is called Picture frames, I was thinking I have a party to go to and I don't have much time to get the quilt done really fast, so I asked myself what can I make?. I really needed a to make this quilt in a day.

I got up early in the  morning and set the day in motion, went into my stash of fabrics chose some jelly roils and then also decided to cut up some of my Fat quarters into 2.5 strips, I quickly realised that this quilt can also be made into scrappy jelly roll quilt. At this point I still had no idea of the layout, orientation or even what sort of quilt I was going to make.

I decided to look around  my sewing room for inspiration... and no I did not get any ideas,  my eyes glanced upon a stack of charm squares I had on my shelving unit, I thought to myself, those fabrics are so pretty -, what if  I used the charms and jelly roll and then it hit me I sew around the squares with the jelly rolls and there it was a simple idea. But as I made the the blocks and started to lay them out I soon noticed that all of the charms were taking centre stage and they look liked pictures in in Frame. I immediately shouted to  my husband  Karl, I know the name of my quilt .... "well what it is then" I said come see the layout, they  look  like pictures in a frame, so I'm calling this quilt Picture frames.

And hence this quilt was born......
